أبو العينين يترأس اجتماعات هيئة مكتب برلمان الاتحاد من أجل المتوسط بمجلس النواب بالعاصمة الإدارية
MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, has strongly condemned the so-called Israeli Knesset law permitting the execution of Palestinian prisoners, describing it as a grave escalation that constitutes a serious violation of human values and international law, and a crime that shocks the global conscience.
This came during a meeting of the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, where Abou El-Enein described the legislation as “the most dangerous” and a “true catastrophe,” given its severe implications for human rights and regional stability.
He stressed that Palestinian prisoners are individuals defending their land and rights in the face of occupation, affirming that imposing the death penalty on them is unacceptable in both form and substance, and is inconsistent with humanitarian principles and the civilized values upheld by the international community.
He added that this legislation represents a true crime and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and relevant international conventions, calling on the international community, as well as parliamentary and human rights institutions, to take urgent action to halt this law and confront it in all international forums.
The President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean further emphasized that achieving peace and stability in the region requires full respect for international law and human rights, rather than enacting legislation that fuels further escalation and violence.
In a related context, Abou El-Enein noted that ongoing conflicts in the region have negatively impacted the global economy, particularly in terms of international shipping routes, logistics, and global supply chains. He praised Egypt’s role, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in supporting de-escalation efforts and contributing to regional stability.
He also reiterated his rejection of any aggressions against Arab countries, while simultaneously rejecting policies that exacerbate conflicts and deepen regional tensions, stressing that political solutions and diplomatic dialogue remain the only viable path toward achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
