Mohamed M. Abou El Enein is a renowned Egyptian businessman, investor, public figure and an accomplished politician. Founder and chairman of Cleopatra Group, he has established many major projects spread all over Egypt. Abou El Enein’s role as a Member of Parliament for over 15 years, actively contributing to the growth of the district he represented and served, made him a well-known and much appreciated celebrity. He received several international awards and certificates of honor for his commitment in various fields of business.

Abou El Enein founded Cleopatra Group in 1983. At the time, his commitment was dedicated to the ceramic industry, manufactured in one factory. Within a very short period of time, the ceramic business expanded to encompass 60% of the local market share, and businesses in new international markets were opened up. Basing on this leap forward, Abou El Enein’s business ventures were diversified to include the agriculture, mining, real estate, tourism and media industry, high-tech projects and aviation, which occupies a special place in his heart since Abou El Enein is a certified pilot.

in Cairo, Egypt

Finished his secondary education at Al-Saidia Secondary School, Giza, and joined the Faculty of Foreign Trade at Helwan University.

1973

Graduated from the Faculty of Foreign Trade, Helwan University, and decided to complete his Graduate Studies to obtain PhD in Economics.

1973

Commenced his entrepreneurial journey through initiating trade channels between Europe and Egypt.

1974

Started business activities by founding, together with some partners, an import and export company in the Libyan market. The company did not need capital: its role was to communicate with global producers, explaining the Libyan market’s potential and inviting them to visit it.

1976

Returned to Egypt and established a company importing Italian ceramics to Egypt.

The factory in 10th of Ramadan City

1979

New factory in 10th of Ramadan City

Established the first modern ceramic factory in Egypt. Received a partnership offer from the chairman of one of the largest companies in the world in ceramic equipment production. Negotiated for 3 years with the Industrial Development Bank for funding to build the factory.

The factory was established at Tenth of Ramadan City. At the time, this desert area was remote, with no infrastructure or facilities. Mr. Abou El Enein had determination, enthusiasm and desire to take on the challenge with his partner.

1983

The first Ceramica Cleopatra Group factory was opened in the Tenth of Ramadan City. It used the world’s latest technology at the time. The factory began with the production of 3500 sqm through 4 lines and 300 employees.

1987

Founded Cleopatra Company for Agricultural Production to contribute the efforts in achieving food security for Egypt.

1987

Founded a number of luxury resorts and hotels in Sharm El Sheikh, Makadi Bay, Marsa Allam, and Taba; employing hundreds of Egyptians.

1992

President of the Egyptian-Libyan
Economic Chamber

Unanimously elected as President of the Egyptian-Libyan Economic Chamber, stille holding the office.

1994

Chosen as a member of the Egyptian-American Presidential Council, which includes prominent businessmen concerned to encourage cooperation between the two countries.

1995

Ceramica Cleopatra succeeds in entering the Japanese market

Ceramica Cleopatra Group succeeded to enter the Japanese market after passing the most difficult export quality tests. Today, the Group is the largest Egyptian exporter to Japan. It received the award for the largest exporter to Japan in 2005.

Appointed as a member of the Egyptian People’s Assembly for a 5 years term.

Founded Cleopatra Silicon Valley

Founded Cleopatra Silicon Valley, the first company to manufacture smart cards in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa.

UNIDO award for the best High-tech products in Egypt

Cleopatra Group won the UNIDO award for the best of high-tech product in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East.

The factory at the northwest Gulf of Suez

1998

Growing business in Suez Land

Responded to the State’s request in participating to major national projects as the founder and chairman of a leading and serious company. The aim was to carry out integrated development and the establishment of factories and model farms on two plots of land at the northwest Gulf of Suez and the east Owaynat on the Sudanese border.

President of the General Division for Investors

Elected as President of the General Division for Investors. He has been elected for several sessions and still its President so far.

2000

Chosen by the Parliamentarians Editors Association as the best appointed MP in the history of the Egyptian parliament.

2000 - 2001

Best businessman for the Middle East
Radio Network

Chosen by millions of listeners of Middle East Radio Network as the best businessman in the field of community service for a period of two consecutive years.

2000 - 2005

Elected as a member of the Egyptian People’s Assembly for Giza district.

Also unanimously elected as Chairman of the Committee of Housing, Utilities and Reconstruction People’s Assembly during the same Parliamentary session for a 5 years term.

Established Abou El Enein Social Foundation, a non-governmental organization contributing to human development, women’s empowerment and social welfare.

Chairman of the International Parliamentary Committee

Unanimously elected as the Chairman of the International Parliamentary Committee to resolve the landmines issue, which was set up by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean in response to his proposal.
The Committee was formed from representatives from 20 European and Arab parliaments, as well as from the European Parliament.

2005 – 2010

elected member of the Egyptian People's Assembly for a second term

Heeding the call of public service, elected several times as a member People’s Assembly scoring a tenure of 5 years recording the highest number of votes.

Unanimously elected as Chairman of the Committee of Industry and Energy of People’s Assembly for a 5 years term.

Unanimously elected as President of the Egyptian European Council, which includes a number of senior Egyptian and European personalities, its meetings being attended by European and Arab ambassadors in Egypt.

In a grand ceremony in Monaco, honored by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean as the best parliamentarian in the Southern-Mediterranean countries, and awarded the Parliamentary Excellence Award in recognition of his track record in the field of regional and international parliamentary diplomacy.
