MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, Member of the House of Representatives and President of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, affirmed that Egypt has, from the very beginning, been committed to supporting the unity of the Libyan state and preserving its national institutions, while rejecting all attempts to divide Libya or undermine its stability.

This came during his speech at the plenary session of the House of Representatives, chaired by Counselor Hesham Badawy, and attended by Counselor Aguila Saleh, Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, along with the accompanying delegation.

During the session, Abou El-Enein stressed the depth of the historic and fraternal relations between the Egyptian and Libyan peoples, noting that Egypt drew red lines to protect Libya and preserve its territorial integrity, based on its national responsibility and commitment to regional stability.

The President of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly emphasized that Cairo firmly confronted plots aimed at dismantling the Libyan state or destabilizing its security.

He added that the Egyptian state has, over the past years, supported efforts to unify Libyan institutions and end political division, believing that Libya’s stability represents a fundamental pillar for the stability of the entire Arab region.

Abou El-Enein also stressed the importance of having a unified parliament and a single government capable of extending state authority over all Libyan territories, while emphasizing the need to expedite elections in order to end the transitional phase and achieve political stability.

He reaffirmed rejection of any foreign interference in Libyan affairs, stressing that the solution must be “Libyan-Libyan” through comprehensive national consensus led by the Libyan people themselves, away from any external dictates or interference.

He further expressed confidence in the Libyan House of Representatives’ ability to establish a clear roadmap that supports the unity of institutions, preserves state cohesion, and reunifies the nation, affirming that Libya possesses vast resources and capabilities that qualify it to achieve comprehensive development once full stability is restored.
