Unanimously elected by the Speakers of Parliaments of 37 Arab, European and Mediterranean countries as President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean. Based in Malta, its aim is the promotion of parliamentary cooperation among countries along the Mediterranean shores.
