Abou El-Enein: VAT Amendments Ease Burdens on National Industry

Deputy Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament Mohamed Abou El-Enein approved the report of the Parliament’s Plan and Budget Committee regarding a draft law submitted by the government to amend some provisions of the Value Added Tax (VAT) law promulgated by Law No. 67 of 2016.

This came during the plenary session of the House of Representatives, headed by Parliament Speaker Hanafi Jebali, and in the presence of Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance, and officials of the Egyptian Tax Authority.

Abou El-Enein indicated that the amendments submitted by the government aim to reduce the burden on the national industry, as well as to set up facilities for the benefit of the economic zones.

 The Parliament deputy speaker explained that the amendments also aim to solve the problems facing the tourism sector, noting that tourism faces a problem in aviation.

The Egyptian MP stressed that easing the burdens on aviation is a “positive matter” for the benefit of Egyptian tourism.

Abou El-Enein explained that the amendments to the value-added tax law reflect a new thought, stressing the need to increase the advantages of economic zones of a special nature.
