Abou El Enein: Some make use of Regeni’s accident to trigger a crisis in the Egyptian-Italian relations

Mohammed Abou El Enein, honorary president of Euro-Mediterranean Parliament and president of Egyptian European Council, affirmed that he visited Italy and personally met a number of Italian MPs driven by his love and loyalty to that country, especially after he felt that some want to trigger a crisis in the Egyptian-Italian relations by making use of the Italian young man’s killing, Regeni.

Abou El Enein declared in his interview with Ahmed Moussa, TV host, in “Ala Masou’liti” program on Sada El Balad channel, that the killing of the Italian young man was terrible and has aroused Egyptians and Italians’ feelings especially with the increase in the number of people in Italy who want to benefit from this situation and arouse the public opinion.

Mohamed Abou El Enein mentioned that some people used the accident as a media subject, others exploited it to aggravate political situations which led to what we are currently going through with the Italian side.

The honorary president of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliament pointed that the Italian attorney requested a number of demands such as having access to the call records of the area where Regeni lived, which was not agreed on by the Egyptian Attorney because it violates the Egyptian constitution saying: “What’s weird is that in Italy it’s legal to record phone calls and its sarcastic how some Italian MPs demanded to ban recording phone calls following the Egyptian constitution”.

Abou El Enein explained that during his visit to Italy he met a large group of Italian MPs, who affirmed on the importance of the Egyptian Italian relations, expressed their love and appreciation to the Egyptian people highlighting that they were the first to support the 30th of January revolution expressing their appreciation and respect to president Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi.
