From the Heart of America… Abou El-Enein Receives the Global Parliamentary Leadership Award… Calls for Peace in Gaza and an End to the Bloodshed in Sudan

Abou El-Enein to Arab–American Policymakers in Washington:

Sisi’s principles in Sharm El-Sheikh are the foundation of any peace agreement

Europe is a key supporter of justice for the Palestinian people

Sisi’s message to Trump is a call to mobilize the U.S. role in launching peace

The Sharm El-Sheikh Conference is a turning point to stop the war and revive the political process

The region faces its most serious challenges, and foreign interference aims to dismantle Arab states

What is happening in Gaza is a humanitarian tragedy… and 80 years of occupation are enough to impose a just solution

We call for urgent U.S. intervention to end the war in Sudan and stop the bloodshed

Our goal has always been dialogue and shaping a shared vision for a more stable future

MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein received the “Distinguished Global Parliamentary Leadership Award” from the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations, in recognition of his parliamentary and international contributions. This is the first time the award has ever been presented. He received two symbolic gavels—one representing his national parliamentary role as Deputy Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives, and the other representing his international role as President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.

This recognition came during his participation as a keynote speaker at the 33rd Annual Arab-U.S. Policymakers Conference, organized by the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations, highlighting the active role of Egyptian civil society leaders and their influence in international forums.

In his address at the conference, MP Abou El-Enein stressed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, during the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit, laid out a set of core principles that must remain the foundation of any future peace agreement in the region. He added that these principles are not merely demands, but rather the essential framework for achieving justice and reaching a comprehensive and sustainable resolution to the conflict.

Abou El-Enein also highlighted the significant support provided by the European Union and the European Parliament for peace efforts, emphasizing that this backing reflects Europe’s central role in promoting stability and ensuring justice for the Palestinian people. He noted the need for coordinated international cooperation to push the peace process forward.

He went on to note that on August 28, President El-Sisi delivered an important message to the world, calling on U.S. President Donald Trump to play a decisive role in launching a comprehensive peace process, given the United States’ influence on the trajectory of the conflict and its historical responsibility in advancing peace. He stressed that Washington must work closely with international partners to achieve a lasting solution that fulfills the aspirations of the Palestinian people.

Abou El-Enein explained that the recent Sharm El-Sheikh Conference marked a turning point in the peace process, as representatives from 30 countries came together to agree on the need to stop the war, ensure the entry of humanitarian aid, and launch a credible political process. He said the summit provided an opportunity to unify international efforts and reaffirm the commitment to achieving peace.

Shifting to humanitarian and moral values, Abou El-Enein underscored that the teachings of all religions uphold the sanctity of human life, citing the Qur’anic verse: “Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption in the land, it is as if he has killed all mankind.” He added that the pursuit of peace must be a shared goal for all peoples of the region.

Regarding the regional landscape, Abou El-Enein spoke of the immense challenges facing the Middle East today, referencing the comprehensive perspective presented by Prince Turki Al-Faisal on regional developments. He noted that recent years have witnessed dangerous shifts—from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border to the devastating situations in Syria and Yemen, alongside the crises in Sudan and Libya.

Abou El-Enein stated that foreign interference aimed at weakening Arab states, undermining their unity, and sowing discord among their peoples has become one of the gravest threats facing the region.

Turning to Gaza, Abou El-Enein stressed that what the Strip has endured over the past two years stands among the worst humanitarian tragedies of the modern era. He added that addressing the crisis requires returning to the roots of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: after 80 years of occupation and expansionist policies, it has become imperative to recognize the Palestinian people’s right to an independent state. He emphasized that destruction, killing, and forced displacement cannot constitute an acceptable solution.

On the situation in Sudan, Abou El-Enein issued an urgent appeal to the U.S. administration and President Trump, calling for immediate intervention to end the war and stop the bloodshed. He said Sudan holds great strategic importance, which requires swift international action to halt the fighting and activate effective mediation to ensure a ceasefire. He stressed that a final solution can only be achieved through cooperation among regional and international parties to prevent escalation and secure the country’s stability.

Abou El-Enein concluded by affirming that his role as a Member of Parliament and President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean obliges him to uphold constant dialogue, shape a shared vision, assess the present, and think collectively about the best ways to build a more stable future for the region.
