Geneva, October 22 (MENA) –
MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, delivered a powerful address before the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, in the presence of Speakers and parliamentary delegations from 183 countries, on the “Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement” and the decisive role played by H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, whose balanced vision embodied Egypt’s historic commitment to safeguarding regional and international security, supporting political solutions, and upholding the voice of reason in times of division.

At the outset of his speech, MP Abou El-Enein expressed—on behalf of himself and the 43 member states of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean—his sincere appreciation to all participants, emphasizing: “We are proud to join you in this debate at a time of intensifying turmoil and accelerating challenges. Yet, amid it all, world peace remains the cornerstone upon which the prosperity of peoples and the welfare of nations rest.”

He stressed that historical experience has proven that the first step on the path of development is to extinguish the fires of conflict and to elevate the voice of dialogue and reason.

We stand today before a living example of this truth—what took place just last week, he said, referring to the successful diplomatic initiative led by the United States, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and Qatar, which resulted in the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement to end the war in Gaza. “This agreement, signed last week, represents a historic achievement.

MP Abou El-Enein affirmed that the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit proved that the will for dialogue is stronger than the sound of weapons, and that this brave initiative stands as a model of what can be achieved through diplomacy and international cooperation.
He added that peace is not merely a political agreement, but a moral and human value system grounded in justice and mutual respect.

He further noted that the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement not only ends a war, but opens the doors toward achieving just and lasting peace in the Middle East—one that promotes prosperity, sustainable development, new opportunities for trade, investment, education, and technology, enhances regional integration, and upholds the highest human values.

MP Abou El-Enein went on to express his deep appreciation for President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, saying that his balanced vision has reaffirmed Egypt’s historic commitment to regional security, political solutions, and the voice of wisdom in times of division.

He also saluted U.S. President Donald Trump, describing him as a leader who returned to the path of peace through decisive action and proactive diplomacy rather than hesitation or delay.

From the rostrum of the Inter-Parliamentary Union,” Abou El-Enein declared, “we send a parliamentary message to both leaders—President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and President Donald Trump—and salute all the leaders who gathered in Sharm El-Sheikh to affirm that peace is not a slogan but a solemn commitment.
We call upon both parties, the Israeli and Palestinian sides, to adhere to the principles of the agreement and to honor their commitments.
Preserving what has been achieved in Sharm El-Sheikh is a moral, political, and international duty. Any delay in implementing this agreement is a delay of peace itself.
Let this agreement be a step toward the establishment of the two-state solution and the opening of a new chapter of cooperation and human prosperity.”

He concluded by emphasizing that the role of parliaments today is not to observe events from afar, but to take part in shaping history.
He called for a broad international parliamentary mobilization to consolidate the path of peace, reaffirming that true peace is rooted in respect for human dignity and renewing the principled parliamentary stance in support of the Palestinian people.
