MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein Participates in the 20th Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) in Montenegro and Affirms: There Can Be No Genuine Peace Without Justice, Dialogue, and Respect for International Law

MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM), participated in the proceedings of the 20th Summit of Speakers of Mediterranean Parliaments, held in Montenegro, with the participation of parliamentary leaders and delegations from member states. The meetings focused on the major political, security, and economic challenges facing the Mediterranean region and the international community.

During his address, Abou El-Enein stressed that the Summit of Speakers of Mediterranean Parliaments reflects the remarkable progress achieved by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean over the past twenty years. He noted that the Assembly has evolved into a leading platform for dialogue, a bridge for communication among peoples, and an effective instrument of parliamentary diplomacy across the region.

He underscored the importance of preserving the Assembly’s civilizational mission and adhering to credibility and historical responsibility when addressing the issues and concerns of the peoples of the region. He emphasized that the rights of peoples cannot be ignored, nor can historical mistakes be overlooked, particularly at a time when the region faces complex and unprecedented challenges requiring responsible leadership and collective action.

Abou El-Enein expressed his pride in being one of the founders of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, noting that he has participated in numerous international initiatives and engagements with regional and international organizations to support the causes of the region and promote dialogue and cooperation among member states.

The President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean congratulated participants on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean. He highlighted the importance of incorporating the outcomes and initiatives launched during the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Conference and efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza into the Assembly’s official report, particularly the proposal to establish a Peace Council, which he described as a significant achievement deserving recognition and support.

He also paid tribute to the countries that participated in the Peace Conference in Sharm El-Sheikh, praising the collective efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability. He stressed that dialogue and cooperation remain the most effective means of resolving conflicts and achieving lasting peace.

Addressing the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories, Abou El-Enein stated that the assistance delivered to the Palestinian people remains insufficient in light of the continuing humanitarian suffering. He reaffirmed Egypt’s longstanding support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and called for intensified international efforts to alleviate their hardships and advance a just and lasting peace.

He further expressed his rejection of any attacks or actions targeting Arab states and voiced solidarity with the State of Qatar against any threats to its security and stability. He emphasized the importance of Arab unity in confronting the challenges facing the region.

Concluding his remarks, Abou El-Enein affirmed that Egypt’s national security constitutes a fundamental pillar of Arab national security. He stressed that safeguarding the stability of Arab countries and protecting the interests of their peoples is a shared responsibility that requires greater coordination, cooperation, and joint action in order to build a more secure, stable, and prosperous future for the region.
