Aboul Enein: President Sisi’s Accomplishments are Engraved in Citizen’s Hearts

Mohamed Aboul Enein, member of the House of Representatives, congratulated President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian people on the occasion of 6 years passing since the president was sworn into office on June 8, 2014.

“This historic day in which President Sisi swore to build modern Egypt has shown that he has fulfilled the promise due to his enormous accomplishments in several fields, Aboul Enein Stated.

He also stressed that the president’s accomplishments are engraved in the heart of all Egyptians.

This came in Aboul Enein’s speech before the plenary session of the House of Representatives, to discuss a draft law submitted by the government to amend some provisions of Law No. 1 of 2019 establishing a fund to care for innovators and geniuses.

The Cleopatra Group founder stressed that the establishment of this fund came at the initiative of President El-Sisi, pointing out that interest in innovation and scientific research is a national security issue of the first degree.

“We are in front of choosing either innovation or extinction … asserting that no country can rise without interest in education, innovation and scientific research,” Aboul Enein affirmed.

He added that the creation of a fund for the care of innovators and talented people at the initiative of the president could give a big boost to innovation in Egypt, stressing that he was proud when he found that 22 of the 30 research papers in the African continent were published in the world periodicals in relation to confronting the Coronavirus.

Unfortunately, Egypt still needs to make great efforts to improve the general research situation, indicating that Egypt ranked 92 in the global innovation index out of a total of 129 countries and 104 out of 157 countries in the human capital index issued by the World Bank.

The number of patents registered by Egyptian Patent Office in the name of the Egyptian inventors was 155 patents in 2018 and 96 in 2017, at 22% of the total patents registered in 2018 compared to 78% patents for foreigners. Hence, the rate shows that there was no increase in the number of patents.

Moreover, the number of Egyptians’ patents that were transferred to the Innovation Development Authority is only 6, of which only 2 were marketed.

We have a good base of brilliant Egyptian researchers, whether in universities or research centers, but it is necessary to provide a stimulating environment for them, by providing an institutional environment and stimulating and supportive legislation for innovation.

Providing appreciation to scientists is the role of the media to shed light on scholars and innovators as role models for youth and young people, and highlighting these bright minds.
